| gEsashi oiwakeh which is one of the
nicest music in Japan was made with efforts of many people.
And the origin of the song is said to be from Mago-uta the ,horse
song from Nagano prefecture. The song was sung by ladies
who serve alcohol to travelers to express the sad feeling
of saying good-by each other. And the song went to Esashi,
Hokkaido.
In 1919, there was an Oiwake Minyo competition and
Tameshichiro Miura the 1st participated with Montsuki Hakama,
formal Japanese clothes. And he sung Esashi Oiwake with
dignity with the back music of the shakuhachi.
It got great reputation and since then, Esachi oiwake
has been sung with the back music of the shakuhachi.
Since before the song was sung with the shami sen.
It was Tameshichiro Miura the 1st who composed mae-uta,
former part music and ato-uta, latter part music and
made gEsashi oiwakeh three- part song. Now Esashi oiwake
became very famous and said to be the king of Minyo.
And the Miura school song of Esashi oiwake is succeeded
to Michiya Mihashi and Tamashichiro Miura the 2nd.
